Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Hauck, a single cloth weaver (Tuchweber), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 June 1766 aboard the ship named Die Neue Fortuna (The New Fortune) under the command of Skipper Ahrens Steingraber.

Friedrich Hauch [sic] is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Friedrich Hauck, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), and his wife Anna Katharina arrived in the Volga German colony of Jost on 5 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26 along with stepson Johann Georg Heuser (age 16). [See Heuser Family.]

Widower Friedrich Hauck is recorded on the 1798 census of Jost in Household No. Jo54 along with a note that he left the colony in 1796 and that his whereabouts are unknown.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Friedrich Hauch [sic] came from the German region of Stuttgart. The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Hauck came from the German village of Stocken in the region of Schwaben (Swabia).

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
