Discussion & Documentation

Johann Michael [sic] Heiling, a farmer, his wife Karolina, and children (Jakob, age 11½; Anna Maria, age 9½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 7 August 1766 aboard the ship named Nordstern (North Star) under the command of Skipper Detlev Behling.

Johann Friedrich Heiling, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Jakob, age 13; Anna Maria, age 10) are recorded on the 1767 census of Jost in Household No. 53. They had settled there on 19 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Heiling came from the German village of Löwenstein in the region of Schwaben (Swabia).

There are no known surviving male lines of this Heiling family among the Volga German colonies.
