August Gelhorn, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Anna Maria are recorded on the 1767 census of Kutter in Household No. 78. They had settled there on 16 August 1767.

In 1788, August Gelhorn and his family moved from Kutter to Straub.

August Gelhorn, his sons (Johann Philipp & Friedrich Ernst), and son-in-law Adam Ulrich are recorded on the 1811 census of Straub in Household No. 47 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Neu-Straub [year not recorded].

August Gelhorn and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Neu-Straub in Household No. 22.

The 1767 census records that August Gelhorn came from the German region of Isenburg.
