Johann Echwald [sic], a farmer, his wife Maria, and daughters (Elisabeth, age 20; Katharina, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Neptunus (Neptune) under the command of Skipper Johann Graap.
Johannes Eichwald, a farmer, his wife Maria Elisabeth, and daughter Katharina (age 5) are recorded on the 1767 census of Schwab in Household No. 29. They had settled there on 12 September 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Echwald [sic] came from the German region of Isenburg. The 1767 census records that Johannes Engwald came from the German village of Aldenburg [Waldenburg?].
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
