Discussion & Documentation

Gottfried Steininger, a farmer, and his wife Gertrude are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 30 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Zürich in 1768.

Gottfried's widow is recorded on the 1798 census of Wittmann in Household No. Wm22.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
