The parish register of Groß-Umstadt records the baptism of Georg Peter Fromm on 25 March 1757. He had been illegitimately born on 22 March 1757 in Semd. The parish entry records his mother as Anna Regina Matthesen, daughter of Adam Matthesen, and his father as Kaspar Fromm from Dorndiel.
[Anna Regina Mattheis [sic], daughter of Johann Adam Mattheis & Catharina Christina Frantz, had been born in Semd on 31 October 1728.]
Leonhard Menges from Senck [sic] & Anna Regina Mathes [sic], a widow, were married 28 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.
Leonhard Menges, a farmer, his wife Anna, and [step-]son Georg [Fromm] (age 10¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.
Georg Peter [Fromm] (age 12) is recorded on the 1767 census of Shcherbakovka in Household No. 42 along with the family of his stepfather Leonhard Menges. They had arrived in Shcherbakovka on 18 August 1767. [See Menges & Metzler Families.]
