Discussion & Documentation

Joh. Conrad Herber, a linen weaver (Leineweber) from Neuengronau in the baronial district of Düngen, son of the late Joh. Adam Herber, & Anna Maria Schmidt, daughter of Ulrich Schmidt from Elm in the district of Brandenstein, were married on 22 July 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Schlitz.

Johann Konrad Herber and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Franz Nikolaus Schröder.

Johann Conrad Herbert [sic] and his wife Anna are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Konrad Gerber, a farmer, and his wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Nieder-Monjou on 3 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 74.

In 1796, Cecilia Gerber, widow of Konrad Gerber, and her family moved from Nieder-Monjou to Schäfer.

The 1767 census records that Konrad Gerber came from the German village of Herzfeld.
