Ulrich Balzer, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Magdalena, and daughter Anna Margaretha (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Urbach in Household No. 46. They settled there on 3 July 1767.

The 1767 census records that Ulrich Balzer came from the German village of Mühlried in the Württemberg region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
