Discussion & Documentation

August Marschal von Biberstein, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 September 1766.

August Marschal von Bieberstein [sic] is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Karl August von Biberstein, a single Prussian Officer (preußischer Offizier), is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 49 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Biberstein in 1768.

It is after him that the colony of Biberstein took its name.

The 1767 census records that Karl August von Biberstein came from the German region of Zens.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
