Discussion & Documentation

Johannes Neuhaus (age 17) and his brother Christian (age 13) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Beauregard in Household No. 59 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Bettinger in 1768. They are also recorded on the 1767 census as the stepsons of widower Peter Bruckmann.

Christian Neuhaus from Biberstein is recorded on the 1798 census of Bettinger in Household No. Bt11.

The death of Christian Neuhaus in 1821 is recorded on the 1834 census of Bettinger in Household No. 53.

The 1767 census does not record from where the Neuhaus brothers came.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
