Markus Jacobs, a hunter (Jäger), his wife Elisabeth, children (Anna, age 2; Jakob, age ¼), and maiden Julianna [surname not recorded] (age 13) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard a ship named Der Junge Heinrich (The Young Henry) under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann. A note records that daughter Anna died on 14 June 1766 and son Jakob died on 20 June 1766.
Marcus Jacobi [sic], his unnamed wife, and an unnamed child are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Markus Jacobs, a hunter (Jäger), and his wife Elisabeth are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 2 along with orphan Julianna [surname not recorded] (age 18). The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Jacobs family and the orphan girl. [Markus Jacobs is recorded as Jakob März in the publication of Igor Plehve of the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk.) They had arrived in Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Markus Jacobs came from the German region of Danzig. The 1767 census records that Markus Jacobs came from the Danish town of Maribo.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Jacobs family among the Volga German colonies.
