Johannes Apfel, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Anton, age 20; Simon, age 16; Maria, age 12) are recorded on the 1767 census of Semenovka in Household No. 38. They had settled there on 24 July 1767.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Apfel came from the German village of Bieber in the Hanau region.
