Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Bühl, his wife Maria, and children (Katharina, age 6; Anna, age 4; Maria, age 2; Just, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Gabriel Wild.

Friedrich Bühl, a farmer, his wife Maria, and daughters (Katharina, age 8; Margaretha, age 6; Elisabeth, age 4) are recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 44. They had settled there on 23 July 1767.

In 1784, Michael Biehl moved from Ober-Monjou to Zug.

The 1767 census records that Friedrich Bühl came from the German village of Dorheim. [There are several villages named Dorheim; it is assumed to be the one in Kreis Wetterau, because so many Volga German families that came from that area.]
