History: 

Zug was founded on 10 August 1767 by colonists who had been recruited by Baron Caneau de Beauregard. It was moved to its final location in 1770.

Today, what remains of the former colony of Zug is known as Yastrebovka.

Church: 

The original colonists of Zug were Roman Catholic. A wooden church was constructed there in the Kontor style.
