Discussion & Documentation

Tobias Bauer, a farmer, his wife Anna, and daughter Anna (age ½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a ship named Die Zwei Gebrüder (The Two Brothers) under the command of Skipper Nicolaus Peter Pinck.

Joh. Tobias Bauer, his [new?] wife Margaretha, and daughter Anna Maria (age 1) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that daughter Anna Maria died in route.

Thomas Bauer, a butcher (Fleischer), and his wife Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Orlovskaya in Household No. 74. They had settled there on 3 August 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Tobias Bauer came from the German region of Isenburg. The 1767 census records that Thomas Bauer came from the German region of Fürth.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Bauer family among the Volga German colonies.
