Johann Ludwig, a baker (Bäcker), and his wife Anna are recorded on the 1767 census of Laub in Household No. 40. They had settled there on 5 September 1767.

The 1767 census records that Johann Ludwig came from the German village of Saryhausen [?] in the Württemberg region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Ludwig family among the Volga German colonies.
