Two Rein families arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Diana under the command of Skipper Markus Draguhn. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Joachim Rein, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and daughter Christina (age 16) arrived in Oranienbaum.
It is not known what happened to them after arrival in Russia.
(2) Johann Friedrich Rein, a farmer, his wife Anna Elisabeth, and daughter Elisabeth (age 1½) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Johann Rein and his wife Anna Maria are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Johannes Rein, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and daughter Anna Maria (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Lauwe in Household No. 37. They had settled there on 5 September 1767.
Johann[es] Rein and his son [Johann] Heinrich are recorded on the 1798 census of Lauwe in Household No. Lw37.
Johann Heinrich Rein and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Lauwe in Household No. 18.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both Joachim & Johann Friedrich Rein came from the German region of Mecklenburg. The 1767 census records that Johannes Rein came from the German village of Undenheim.
