Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Berger, his wife Louisa, and [step-]son Ferdinand [Götz] (age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a ship named Die Zwei Gebrüder (The Two Brothers) under the command of Skipper Nicolaus Peter Pinck.

Johann Friedrich Berger, his wife Louissa Hentriegetta [sic], and [step-]son Ferdinand [Götz] (age 8) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that the father Johann Friedrich Berger died in route. [See Berger Family.]

Widow Louisa Berger remarried to Christian Hanke.

Wilhelm Ferdinand Götz (age 9) is recorded on the 1767 census of Orlovskaya in Household No. 14 along with his stepfather Christian Hanke.

The 1767 census does not record from where Wilhelm Ferdinand Götz came.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Götz family among the Volga German colonies.
