Jacob Eichhorn was born 6 February 1890 in the Volga German colony of Bauer.

He studied theology at the University of Dorpat (Estonia) and was ordained in Leipzig at the Church of St. Thomas in 1924.

From 1920 to 1923 he served with the Society of Volga Germans in Berlin and was involved in the relief efforts of the 1921 Famine.

In Berlin on 29 September 1923, he married Elisabeth Strauch who had been born in the Volga German colony of Beideck. They are the parents of 3 children: Dr. Jacob Eichhorn, Dr. Erwin Eichhorn, and Prof. Irma Eichhorn.

They immigrated to the United States where Pastor Eichhorn sreved St. John's Lutheran Church in Montrose, Colorado from 1924-1927. In 1927 he was called to serve the congregation of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Michigan, where he served until 1958.

Pastor Eichhorn died on 21 April 1986 in Saginaw.
