History

Ruhental was founded in 1866 by German settlers relocating from the colony of Riebensdorf (which had been settled at the same time as the Volga German colonies). Volga German colonists also settled there. Ruhental's Russian name was Radkovka.

The colony of Peterstal was founded in 1903 just south of Ruhental.

Today, Ruhental (Radkovka) has been administratively merged with neighboring Peterstal and is called Selivanovka.
