Christoph [sic] Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a ship named Die Zwei Gebrüder (The Two Brothers) under the command of Skipper Nicolaus Peter Pinck.
Christian Schäfer, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and daughter Elisabeth (age 3-months) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 19.
It is not known in which colony they settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christoph [sic] Schäfer came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that Christian Schäfer came from the German village of Ziegenbach in the Hessen region. [Ziegenbach is in Bayern (Bavaria). Perhaps it is Ziegenberg which is in Hessen?]
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schäfer family among the Volga German colonies.
