Discussion & Documentation

Johann [Hartung] (age 11) and Magdalena [Hartung] (age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier along with their stepfather Kaspar Kaiser.

Conrad [Hartung] (age 11) and Magdalena [Hartung] (age 7) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from Oranienbaum to Saratov in 1767 along with their stepfather Casper Kayser [sic].

Siblings Valentin Hartung (age 16), Leonhard Hartung (age 11) and Magdalena Hartung (age 8) are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits (Household No. 42) appended to the 1767 census of the Volga German colonies along with stepfather Kaspar Kaiser.

Neither the Oranienbaum passenger list nor the 1767 census record from where the Hartung children came.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Hartung family among the Volga German colonies.
