Discussion & Documentation

Sebastian Kirchner, a farmer, his wife Magdalena, and children (Johann Kaspar, age 14; Katharina, age 11) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard the hooker Die Jungfer Dietrika under the command of Skipper Christian Korsholm.

Sebastian Kirch [sic], his wife Magdalena, and children (Casper, age 14; Anna Catrina, age 11; Zacharias, born en route) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony this Kirchner family settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Sebastian Kirchner came from the German region of Fulda.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Kirchner family among the Volga German colonies.
