Kaspar Peckel [sic], a joiner (Tischler), his wife Margaretha, and mother-in-law Anna [surname not recorded] arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a barque named Fortitudo (Fortitude) under the command of Skipper John Scott.
Casper Pepel [sic] and his wife Margreta are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Casper and his mother-in-law died in route.
It is not known in which colony the Widow Margaretha Beckel settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Kaspar Peckel [sic] came from the German region of Isenburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Beckel family among the Volga German colonies.
