Discussion & Documentation

Johann Jung, a hosier (Strumpfwirker), his wife Anna, and children (Johann, age 4; Susanna, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Frau Catharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Jenßen.

Johann Junge [sic], his wife Anna Margreta, and children (Johannes, age 4½; Anna Elisabeth, age 1½) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg and Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Jung came from the German region of Solms.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Jung family among the Volga German colonies.
