Gottfried Ostwald, a furrier, his wife Anna, and daughter Dorothea (age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
Otto Fried. Ostwald and his wife Mari. Dorot. are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Otto died in route. Doro. von Brünn [née Ostwald] was traveling with them.
It is not known in which colony the Widow Ostwald and her daughter Doro. von Brünn settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Gottfried Ostwald came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony).
There are no known surviving male lines of this Ostwald family among the Volga German colonies.
