Discussion & Documentation

Three Dierauff families arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Johann Dierauff, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Elisabeth, age 12; Michael, age 8; Rosina, age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Johann Dierauff, his wife Maria, and children (Michael, age 6; Rosina, age 4) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Johann and son Michael died in route.

It is not known in which colony the Widow Dierauff and her daughter settled.

(2) Michael Dierauff, a single farmer, arrived in Oranienbaum.

It is not known what happened to him after arrival in Russia.

(3) Anna Dierauff, a single woman, arrived in Oranienbaum.

Maiden Anna Dierauff is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with Johann Dierauff's family.

It is not known in which colony Anna Dierauff settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that each of these Dierauff families came from the German region of Bayreuth.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Dierauff family among the Volga German colonies.
