Discussion & Documentation

Sophia Weid, a single woman, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Sophia Weid is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony Sophia Weid settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Sophia Weid came from the German region of Zerbst.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Weid family among the Volga German colonies.
