In the 17th century, Trübenbrunn was located in Niederfranken (Lower-Franconia, today northwest Bavaria) in an area called Dienheim, a cluster of about 15 villages owned by the Franconian Knights and in the possession of the Counts of Thüngen. On 28 June 1814, following the Napoleonic Wars, these Thüngen territories were awarded to the Kingdom of Bavaria.
Today, Trübenbrunn is administratively part of the municipality of Zeitlofs.
