Kaspar Horst, a farmer, and his wife Anna Margaretha arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named Die Perle (The Pearl) under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen.
Caspar Horst, his wife Anna Margretha, and new-born daughter Christina Elisabeth are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Anna Margretha died in route.
It is not known in which colony the widower Kaspar Horst settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Kaspar Horst came from the German region of Darmstadt.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Horst family among the Volga Germans.
