Discussion & Documentation

Anna Mangel, a single woman, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named Die Perle (The Pearl) under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen.

Cathrina Mangel is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anna Mangel came from the German region of the Pfalz.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Mangel family among the Volga German colonies.
