Discussion & Documentation

Martin Bieler, a single wool weaver (Wollweber), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Diana under the command of Skipper Markus Draguhn.

Martin Bühler is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that he died en route.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Martin Bieler came from the German region of Nürnberg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Bieler family among the Volga German colonies.
