Discussion & Documentation

Johann Adam Krug, a farmer, his wife Julianna, and daughters (Eva Katharina, age 12; Elisabeth, age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 11 August 1766 aboard a Russian galliot named Citadel under the command of Midshipman Gregory Bukharin.

Johann Heinrich Knorr, a farmer, his [new] wife Julianna, daughters (Barbara, age 13; Anna Elisabeth, age 6), and [step-]daughters [Eva Katharina [Krug], age 14; Elisabeth [Krug], age 7) are recorded on the 1767 census of Schwab in Household No. 28. They had settled there on 12 September 1767. [See Knorr Family.]

Eva Katharina Schmunk née Krug and her family are recorded on the 1798 census of Schwab in Household No. Sb33.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Adam Krug came from the German region of Erbach.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Krug family among the Volga German colonies.
