Discussion & Documentation

Adam Heinrich Tose [sic], a wool weaver (Wollweber), his wife Susanna Sophia, and daughters (Susanna, age 8; Eleonora Elisabeth, age 6; Eleonora, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 7 August 1766 aboard the ship named Nordstern (North Star) under the command of Skipper Detlev Behling.

Adam Heinrich Dose, his wife Susanna Sophia, and daughters (Maria Susanna, age 8; Dorothea Eleonora, age 5) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that the father and both daughters died en route.

It is not known in which colony the Widow Susanna Sophia Dose settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Adam Heinrich Dose came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony).

There are no known surviving male lines of this Dose family among the Volga German colonies.
