Discussion & Documentation

Ludwig Kreiner(t), his wife Elisabeth, and [servant] Karl [Hartmann] (age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 7 August 1766 aboard the ship named Nordstern (North Star) under the command of Skipper Detlev Behling.

Ludwig Kreiner, his wife Elisabeth, son Johann Fridrich (born en route), and servant Karl Hartmann (age 16) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony Karl Hartmann settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list does not record from where Karl [Hartmann] came.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Hartmann family among the Volga German colonies.
