Discussion & Documentation

Knut Zern [sic], a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Gottfried, age 2½; Anna, age 1¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 May 1766 aboard the galliot named Adler (Eagle) under the command of the Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.

Knut Sörens, his unnamed wife, and unnamed mother-in-law are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Knut Zern [sic] came from the German region of Holstein.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
