Discussion & Documentation

Two Killians migrated to Russia. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Philipp Jakob Killian, a single parchment master (Pergamentmeister), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 June 1766 aboard a ship named Die Neue Fortuna (The New Fortune) under the command of Skipper Ahrens Steingraber.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Philipp Jakob Killian came from the German region of Frankfurt am Main.

No further information is recorded about Philipp Jakob Killian.

(2) Johann Killian, a single parchment master (Pergamentmeister), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 June 1766 aboard a ship named Die Neue Fortuna (The New Fortune) under the command of Skipper Ahrens Steingraber.

Johann Kilier [sic] is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Killian came from the German region of Frankfurt am Main.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Killian family among the Volga German colonies.
