Ritter, Jacob

Jacob Ritter was born in the Volga German colony of Luzern. He was one of the scouts selected to come to North America in 1874 to investigate opportunities for the Volga Germans to immigrate to the United States. He and the other scouts traveled by train to Hamburg, Germany, where they boarded the SS Schiller. They arrived at Castle Garden in New York City on 15 July 1874.

Stoecklein, Peter

Peter Stöcklein, son of Johann Anton Stöcklein & Marianna Ihl, was born 20 May 1825 in the Volga German colony of Zug. He was one of the scouts selected to come to North America in 1874 to investigate opportunities for the Volga Germans to immigrate to the United States. He and the other scouts traveled by train to Hamburg, Germany, where they boarded the SS Schiller. They arrived at Castle Garden in New York City on 15 July 1874.

Leiker, Peter

Peter Leiker, son of Johann Heinrich Leiker & Margaretha Krannewitter, was born 9 October 1836 in the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou. He was one of the scouts selected to come to North America in 1874 to investigate opportunities for the Volga Germans to immigrate to the United States. He and the other scouts traveled by train to Hamburg, Germany, where they boarded the SS Schiller. They arrived at Castle Garden in New York City on 15 July 1874.

Schamne, Nikolaus

Nikolaus Schamne was born in the colony of Graf. He was one of the scouts selected to come to North America in 1874 to investigate opportunities for the Volga Germans to immigrate to the United States. He and the other scouts traveled by train to Hamburg, Germany, where they boarded the SS Schiller. They arrived at Castle Garden in New York City on 15 July 1874.

Nolde, Johannes

Johannes Nolde, son of Johann Georg Nolde and Katharina Müller, was born in Norka on August 3, 1822. He was one of the scouts selected to come to North America in 1874 to investigate opportunities for the Volga Germans to immigrate to the United States. He and the other scouts traveled by train to Hamburg, Germany, where they boarded the SS Schiller. They arrived at Castle Garden in New York City on 15 July 1874.

He and his family returned to the United States in 1878 and settled in Sutton, Nebraska.  He died there on 28 October 1895.

Krieger, Johannes

Johannes Krieger, son of Melchior Krieger and Anna Maria Schäfer, was born 8 June 1826 in Norka. He was one of the scouts selected to come to North America in 1874 to investigate opportunities for the Volga Germans to immigrate to the United States. He and the other scouts traveled by train to Hamburg, Germany, where they boarded the SS Schiller. They arrived at Castle Garden in New York City on 15 July 1874.

Johannes and his family eventually returned to America in 1890 and settled in Sutton, Nebraska, where he died on 11 March 1910.

Weber, Anna

Anna Weber is the creative designer of Nuska, the design label of Nuskacouture, a haute couture fashion house in Germany.  Her designs were the final highlight at the Vancouver Fashion Week, a top Canadian fashion event held in Vancouver, British Columbia, on 24 September 2017.

Anna, daughter of Vladimir and Helen Weber, was born 25 August 1990 in Siberia.  She moved with her parents to Germany in the early 2000s and currently resides in Braunschweig (north-central Germany).  Anna's Volga German ancestors come from the colony of Norka.
