Farmers have been living in the area of Lang-Göns since the Stone Age (around 3000 BC). During the Thirty Years' War, the village of Lang-Göns was destroyed.
From 1703 to 1806, Lang-Göns was located in Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt.

In the 14th & 15th century, this area came under the jurisdiction of the Hohenlohe family. Between 1500 and 1806, the territory of the Hohenlohe family was part of the Franconian Empire.
In 1975, the towns of Brettach and Langenbeutingen were combined to form the town of Langenbrettach.
