Metzingen, Kr. Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg
The history of a village in this location can be traced back to at least 1075 when Metzingen is first mentioned in documents. The cultivation of grapes and the development of a wine industry lead to the economic growth of the region around 1600. The textile industry developed in Metzingen in the mid-1800s.
The Thirty Years' War saw much destruction in this area.

The oldest mention of the village of Mettenheim dates to 765-766. The village was originally a possession of the Bishopric of Worms. The region became known for its vineyards.
The castle of Mettenheim dates from at least 1393. It was destroyed by French revolutionary troops in 1793.
In 1709, Mettenheim became the residence of the Counts of Wartenberg.
Today, Mettenheim is administratively part of the municipality of Eich.

Meisenheim, Kr. Bad Kreuznach, Rheinland-Pfalz
In 1444, Meisenheim came under the control of the Dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken. In 1866, the entire area was inherited by the Grand Duchy of Hessen.
Meisenheim is located a few kilometers northeast of the village of Breitenheim.
