Peabody was established in 1879 and named in honor of F.H. Peabody, and officer with the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railway.

Park was founded originally by English and Irish immigrants as a stop on the Union Pacific Railroad known as Buffalo Station. It's first official name was Buffalo Park. In 1898, the name of Park was adopted.

These early immigrants were joined by Germans from the Odessa region of Russia who had originally settled in Texas, and then by Volga German families who were moving west from their orginal settlements in Ellis and Rush Counties.

Otis is the eastern most town in Rush County and was founded by Volga Germans. Before Otis became a town, there were Volga German settlements called Scheuerman (to the west) and Schöntal (to the north).

Ogallah was platted in 1878 in what was then Ellis County. The plat was filed in Hays on 18 April 1879. Trego County was established the following June. Many of the first families to settle in Ogallah came from Illinois.

Officially, parts of Oakley are located in Logan, Thomas, and Gove Counties, but most of the city-proper is in Logan County.

Volga German families from Ellis, Russell, Barton, and Trego Counties in Kansas have moved to Oakley over the years.

In search of additional farm land, Ellis County families began to move west. Ness County was one such destination and in 1913 the families of Carl Weibert and John Weibert were the first Volga Germans from Ellis County to move there, farming northeast of Ness City.

Nashville was founded in 1885 by settlers from Nashville, Tennessee, along the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad.

The village of Munjor, Kansas, was founded in 1876. Munjor was first located along Big Creek, but after a couple of months was moved to its present location in Section 25 of Wheatland Township.
