Nikodemus Ihly, son of Philipp Ihly, was born 8 February 1882 in Karlsruhe (Odessa District).
He studied theology at the Roman Catholic Seminary in Saratov. He was ordained 8 September 1910.
Father Ihly served the following Volga German parishes: Mariental (1910) and Hölzel (1911-1914).
