Discussion & Documentation

Samuel Beier [sic], a physician (Arzt), his wife Albertina Friederika, children (Friederika Judith, age 14; Samuel Peter, age 11; Henrietta, age 8; Margaretha, age 7; Margaretha [again], age 6), and servant Margaretha [Ohlmeyer] (age 38) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named St. Johannes (Saint John) under the command of Skipper Carstens Stahl.

Samuel Bierc [sic], his wife Albertina Fried. Netta, and children (Friederica Judith, age 14; Mariane, age 8; Margretha, age 6) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with Margretha Ohlmeyer (age 38).

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Samuel Beier [sic] came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony).

There are no known surviving male lines of this Becker family among the Volga German colonies.
