Barthuly (Balzer)

The baptisms of two children to Johann Wendel & Gertraudt Barthuly have been located in the parish register of Ruchheim: (1) Balthasar, baptized 20 August 1729; and (2) Apollonia, baptized 15 May 1733. The family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein).

(1) Balthasar Barthuly married on 10 May 1756 in Lampertheim to Anna Margaretha Grösser, daughter of Caspar & Anna Margaretha Grösser. She was born in Lampertheim on 2 March 1726.

The baptisms of two of their children have been located in the parish register of Lampertheim: (1) Elisabetha, baptized 28 November 1756; and (2) Apollonia, baptized 21 May 1759.

Balthasar & Anna Margaretha immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) where the baptism of one more child is recorded in the parish register of Thorning: (3) Johann Martin, baptized 8 February 1761.

They left Denmark and the baptism of a fourth child is recorded in a church in Lübeck as they awaited departure for Russia: (4) Angel, baptized 11 July 1764.

They arrived in Balzer on 28 August 1765 with two daughters: Elisabeth (age 12) and Apollonia (age 10).

They are recorded on the 1767 Census of Balzer in Household No. 1. Balthasar is evidently serving as the Vorsteher (mayor) of Balzer at the time.

(2) Apollonia Barthuly married on 12 November 1760 in Thoringen [Denmark] to Johann Georg Robertus, son of Hans Georg & Anna Margaretha Robertus. He had been born 13 December 1742 in Schriesheim. They also immigrated to Russia and settled in Balzer. [See Robertus Family.]
