Discussion & Documentation

Orphan Maria Bellinger (age 14) is recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits (Household No. 132) appended to the 1767 census of the Volga German colonies. She is recorded in the household of Mattias Katzendorn. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Katzendorn and Bellinger families.

The 1767 census does not record from where Maria Bellinger came.

The Katzendorn family settled in the colony of Wittmann, and it is presumed that Maria Bellinger settled there as well.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Bellinger family among the Volga German colonies.
