Discussion & Documentation

Widow Anna Bender arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.

Widow Elisabet [sic] Bender is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony she settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anna Bender came from the German region of Friedberg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Bender family among the Volga German colonies.
