Michael Benz, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Susanna, and son Fidelius (age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Rohleder in Household No. 25. They had settled in Rohleder on 14 June 1766.

Fidelius Benz and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Rohleder in Household No. Rl14.

The death of Fidelius Benz in 1832 is recorded on the 1834 census of Rohleder in Household No. 37.

The 1767 census records that Michael Benz came from the Swiss village of Niederweningen.
