[Johann] Heinrich Bernhardt, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Concordia under the command of Skipper Jakob Bauert.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Schwab on 8 July 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26 along with his new wife Maria Katharina.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Heinrich Bernhardt came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Johann Heinrich Bernhardt came from the German village of Elsbach.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Bernhardt family among the Volga German colonies.
