Discussion & Documentation

Michael Blenke, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and children (Maria Elisabeth, age 16; Johann Georg, age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Adler (Eagle) under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.

Michel Blencke, his wife Margretha Elisi., and children (Elisabeth, age 16; Hans George, age 8) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that his wife died in route.

It is not known in which colony Michael Blencke and his children settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Blencke came from the German region of Württemberg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Blencke family among the Volga German colonies.
