The birth of Johann Sebastian Böhmer, son of Johann Heinrich Böhmer, is recorded in the parish register of Marienthal near Rockenhausen on 29 May 1727.
The parish register of the Lutheran Church in Mettenheim records that Sebastian Böhmer, a local soldier (alhiesinger Soldat), went with his family to Dietel in 1766. His wife, née Weigand, died in Astrakhan [the region in which the Volga German colonies were located at the time]. Their family includes: (1) Anna Elisabetha, born 3 January 1757; and (2) Carl Wilhelm, born 1763, died in Hamburg.
Sebastian Böhmer, his wife Anna, and daughter Johanna [sic] (age 10¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a Russian packet-boat named Severnyi Orel (Northern Eagle) under the command of Lieutenant Pyotr Malenkov.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dietel on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 32.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Sebastian Böhmer was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a weaver (Weber).
The 1767 census records that Sebastian Böhmer came from the German village of Mettenheim in the Württemberg area.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Böhmer family among the Volga German colonies.
